YOUTH OF THE YEAR

YouthoftheYearSponsorsinwhite (1)_edited.png

Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs across the United States honor one local youth as their Youth of the Year. Candidates are outstanding members, 14 to 18 years of age, who exhibit exceptional leadership skills, academic achievement, and outstanding service to Club and community.

Each nominee is asked to write an essay and is interviewed in front of a panel of judges. The St. Joseph County BGC winner will move on to compete against other Boys & Girls Clubs youth for the state Youth of the Year title.

Congratulations to our 2023 Youth of the Year, Rima!

Rima is 15 years old and currently a freshman at Career Academy South Bend where she participates in various activities such as National Honor Society, track, AP courses, and robotics. She has been coming to Club since she was 5 years old, and is always looking for ways to help the younger kids at her Club site with their homework, or Club activities.

As our winner she will go on to compete at the Youth of the Year state level, and may progress to the regional and national competition.

We are proud to have Rima representing us!
