JANUARY IS NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH!
Last week Boys & Girls Club President & CEO Bruce Greenberg participated in a lively discussion about mentoring on WNIT's Economic Outlook. Bruce was joined by Dr. Gina Shropshire and Craig Horvath, Chair and Vice-chair of the Dream Team mentoring program for the South Bend Community School Corporation. Hosted by Phil D'Amico, the program underscores the positive impact mentoring has on the social, educational, and emotional development of children, particularly those from at-risk environments. If you missed the program, you can check it out at here:
Youth mentoring is a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with a caring adult who volunteers their time to offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. It doesn't require special skills, just a genuine interest in helping children see and achieve their potential.
If you're interested in learning more about volunteering with kids, please contact Boys & Girls Club volunteer coordinator, Vicki Geschke, at (574) 220-4095 or by email.
